Chiloglanis
WebChiloglanis are also sometimes confused with the other 2 genera of African suckermouthed catfish, Euchilichthys and Atopochilus, but can be differentiated from these by their smaller size and circular (as opposed to elliptical) mouthparts. They can be distinguished from the South American Loricariids by their lack of armoured scuting. WebChiloglanis waterloti, from the Senegal and Niger river basins, is elevated from synonymy with Chiloglanis occidentalis, and Chiloglanis occidentalis is restricted to the Sassandra and Volta rivers in Côte d'Ivoire, and the Pra River in Ghana. A key for these new species and other species of Chiloglanis from the area is presented.
